Résumé
The life of the Christian is compared to a career, the apostle Paul mentions it to Timothy in one of his letters, we are compared to high-performance athletes and therefore we must exercise ourselves in faith, we must healthily feed ourselves and it is also necessary that we imitate the best, those who are in the hall of fame of the faith. The main biblical basis for this book is found in Hebrews 12: 1-2.1 Therefore, we also, having around our great cloud of witnesses, let us strip ourselves of all weight and of the sin that besieges us, and let us run with patience the race that we have ahead, 2 set our eyes on Jesus, the author, and finisher of the faith, who for the joy set before him suffered the cross, despising the shame, and sat at the right hand of the throne of GodThe author of Hebrews is unknown, many say that the author was Paul, but others say that it was Barnabas, Silas, and Apollo, or perhaps he was an anonymous writer.
What we do know is that the author had extensive knowledge of the law and the prophets and Jewish customs. Most likely, this book was written in the year 68 after Christ, from Italy and the recipients a group of Jews Palestine, Italy, Egypt, Asia Minor and Greece, who were going through difficult times, because at that time the Judaism had the protection of Roman law, Christianity instead did not enjoy such freedom and protection.
Christians were faced with the dilemma of; whether they should continue to profess Christianity and incur dangers and even death or turn to Judaism, and thus evade the problems and dangers involved in following Christ. The writer reminds them that Christ is greater than angels, greater than Moses; Christ is our law, our high priest, our slain lamb, and our salvation. So in chapter twelve he teaches and reminds them how to stand firm in the race of faith.
