Résumé

Olivia Atwater offers up another gothic fantasy romance, full of dark magic and deceitful faeries, in the second instalment of the Victorian Faerie Tales. An ancient evil has awoken in Victorian England, and it knows Clarimonde Betony's name. London is no longer safe for Clarimonde Betony. Branded as a black magician, cut off from her staid and sensible life, and hounded by a mysterious pursuer, Clarimonde has little choice but to make common cause with her foppish, self-appointed faerie adviser, Lord Foxglove-a beautiful coward with absolutely no affection for the truth. Clarimonde's last, best hope is a weapon that lies in Whitby, under the watch of a lovely, bloodthirsty lady known as the Leanansidhe.
Foxglove's keen talent for duplicity could gain them both hospitality beneath the monster's roof. but the Leanansidhe's temptations are endless, and her unearthly beauty hides a cruelty beyond mortal understanding. One wrong word might lead to a fate much worse than death. and Clarimonde always has been far too honest for her own good.
Olivia Atwater writes whimsical historical fantasy with a hint of satire. She lives in Montreal, Quebec with her fantastic, prose-inspiring husband and her two cats. When she told her second-grade history teacher that she wanted to work with history someday, she is fairly certain this isn't what either party had in mind. She has been, at various times, a historical re-enactor, a professional witch at a metaphysical supply store, a web developer, and a vending machine repairperson.
