Rise of the Alpha Queen. Shifter Country, #2

A reluctant queen. Her steadfast king. The struggle to maintain power in the face of long-standing corruption. As the new shifter Alpha Queen, it's my job to stop the other Alphas from destroying my country: humans, shifters, and environment alike. I saw how damaged we've become under the likes of my mom and the other Alphas. I've made it very clear that they can't be allowed to keep hurting our people.
So of course, I get attacked while coming home from work. It's bad, too. Normally, I'd just let it go, but this level of retaliation has to be addressed. They have to know I won't let them get away with it, too. No, I'm not used to having this much power. Yes, the other Alphas are united by their shared goal of doing whatever they want, no matter the consequences. And yes, they're also more than happy to play dirty.
One thing they're not expecting is that I am, too. At least, that's what I'm telling myself. Because I'm the Queen. I have to stop them. It's the only responsible thing for someone in my position to do. To do anything less would be admitting that I can't stop them at all.and that I wasn't meant to ever be a leader in the first place.
