Résumé
Jake Carter, a roustabout, is hired at Westridge Drilling, an entry-level position on the drilling rigs. The work is tough, dangerous, and dirty, but Jake is used to it. His foreman, Mike Dutton, teaches him the ropes and emphasizes the importance of staying focused on his goal of returning home with 10 fingers. The first few weeks are grueling, with Jake's hands raw from handling rough, rusted chains and tools.
One day, a blowout alarm screams through the air, causing chaos on the rig. Jake, unsure of what to expect, trusts his foreman's commands and follows his instructions. Mike instructs Jake to hold a lever and not let go until he tells him to do so. With every passing second, the pressure in the well intensifies, and Jake keeps his hands steady on the lever to prevent a disaster. After what feels like an eternity, the blowout is averted, and the crew let out a collective breath of relief.
