Rescued 1

James had planned to sail the lake; the weather forecast was good. He packed a snack and set out northbound running with the wind a bit faster than he thought it would but the RS Aero was a fast, lightweight little speedster. But it got a lot stronger and James brought down the sails, the winds were pushing the little boat pretty fast without sails, the sky filled with dark ominous clouds and James began to worry, could be worse, could be...
and then it was, raining. Hard, stinging, horizontal, rain. Sure he was going to be a statistic James was calm, then he heard a marine horn, the handheld kind he sold in his marina, Walmart had them, too. He steered for the sound and finally saw someone on a dock, they threw him a rope and hauled him in. James covered the boat against any more rain and they ran up to the cabin. When they went inside he discovered his rescuer was a woman.
She offered him dry clothes and he changed and they ate, fish chowder, and talked long into the evening. She offered her bed, and she would take the couch. As James drifted off to sleep, he heard the storm release its grip on the lake. He thought he'd be going home tomorrow, and found it made him sad. This woman was comfortable to be with, Cyrano probably wouldn't have put it that way but James thought it felt like he was home.
