 Stendhal
Né Henri Beyle, Stendhal naquit à Grenoble en janvier 1783. Il est mort à Paris en mars 1842 à la suite d’une crise cardiaque. Cet écrivain est l’un des dignes représentants du roman français du XIXème siècle à l’instar de Victor Hugo, Honoré de Balzac ou Emile Zola. Après avoir perdu sa mère, Stendhal connaît une enfance difficile et étouffante auprès d’un père qu’il méprise. Il trouve alors du réconfort dans la littérature. Et son goût prononcé pour les œuvres littéraires va lui valoir la publication de nombreux ouvrages. Parmi ses romans, Le rouge et le noir est sans doute l’un de ses plus gros succès. C’est l’histoire de Julien Sorel, fils d’un pauvre scieur, qui rêve de gloire et de grandeur dans une France dirigée par les aristocrates. Parviendra-t-il à réaliser son rêve ? Le roman « La Chartreuse de Parme » est aussi à la base de sa célébrité. Dans cette œuvre, l’auteur nous plonge au cœur de Milan et de la France dominée par la trahison et les conquêtes.
