In dieser Aufsatzsammlung wird Johann Georg Hamanns Grundthese von »Gott als Schriftsteller« interpretiert und in weitreichende literarische Zusammenhänge gestellt. Das Verhältnis von Reden, Hören und Sehen wird theologisch und eschatologisch untersucht. Hamanns Gedanken zum Abendmahl und zum »Sacrament der Sprache« werden mit der Rolle des Essens und Trinkens in Beziehung gebracht. Die Narziss-Episode der »Metamorphosen« des Ovid deutete Hamann christologisch und als Kenner des Hebräerbriefs verfasste er eine kritische Rezension des Kommentars von J.
D. Michaelis (Göttingen). Joachim Ringleben arbeitet die Bedeutung Hamanns als des maßgeblichen theologischen Sprachdenkers nach Luther heraus, dessen Worttheologie u. a. Kierkegaard geprägt hat. In this essay collection Johann Georg Hamann's thesis of »God as author« is interpreted and put into a wider literary context. The relationship between speaking, hearing and seeing is examined in a theological and eschatological manner.
Hamann's idea on the last supper and on the »Sacrament of speech« are put into a relationship with the importance of eating and drinking. The Narcissus episode of Ovid's » Metamorphoses« were interpreted by Hamann in a christological manner. As a connoisseur of the Hebrews, he wrote a critical review on the comment of Johann David Michaelis (Göttingen School of History). Joachim Ringleben analyses the meaning of Hamann as an of the most important theological thinkers after Luther, whose speech theology influenced Kierkegaard among others.
