Erin Shields is a Canadian playwright best known for radical adaptations of classical texts that bring neglected female characters centre stage. In 2026, Erin premiered six new plays: You, Always (Canadian Stage), Mary, Mary, Mary, Mary (Crow's Theatre), Medusa (Soulpepper), To a Flame (1s1/Nightwood), The Great Gatsby (Citadel), and All's Well (Crow's Theatre). Other highlights include Ransacking Troy (Stratford), Thy Woman's Weeds (Repercussion/Centaur), Much Ado About Nothing (Stratford), Queen Goneril (Soulpepper), Paradise Lost (Stratford), Jane Eyre (Citadel Theatre), Piaf/Dietrich (Mirvish Productions/Segal Centre), Beautiful Man (Factory Theatre), The Lady from the Sea (The Shaw Festival), and If We Were Birds (Tarragon Theatre).
