Résumé
In a world where Hindu deities clash with colonial airship armadas, two brothers stand on opposite sides of a war that could end civilizations. Prince Arun, avatar of the supreme god Vishnu, has a divine mandate to wipe out Western civilization from the Earth. His brother, Manu, a disgraced monk fleeing gambling debts and a murder accusation, must rise to challenge him. From the port slums of Lavo-Ayodhya to the peaks of the Himalayas and the depths of hell, Manu's journey leads to a showdown with the fate of Western enlightenment hanging in the balance.
Set in the Southeast Asian Kingdom of Lavo-Ayodhya - inspired by Siam, modern-day Thailand - Prince of Lavo weaves Hindu and Buddhist mythology into the geopolitics of the 19th-century colonial world, exploring the colonial contradiction between Western imperialism and enlightenment. EDITORIAL REVIEWS ????? "Pongsatorn Greigarn does an amazing job in writing this book, it had that historical fantasy novel that I was wanting.
I thought the brother dynamic worked in this type of book and enjoyed how it uses the mythology element. I was engaged from start to finish and enjoyed getting into this world. Pongsatorn Greigarn was able to weave a strong storyline and thought was so well written and had characters that I was looking for. I enjoyed the Thai-history and enjoyed the overall feel of this."-Kat, BookSirens????? "I thoroughly enjoyed this book.
as it's well plotted, full of surprises and twists, and gripping. I liked the good storytelling and the fleshed out characters. Recommended. Many thanks to the publisher for this digital copy, all opinions are mine."-Librarian 431790, NetGalley???? "Just what I like - a dark fantasy adventure, full of pace, mystery and tension. I was captivated from page 1 and I loved every second of it."-Olivia, E., Librarian, NetGalley
