Résumé

Practical FIDIC Correspondence - Employer to Consultant Letters under the FIDIC Red Book (1999) is a specialized reference guide created to support construction project teams in managing contract-related correspondence effectively and in alignment with FIDIC standards. With over two decades of experience in construction leadership and contract administration-and having successfully delivered more than 110 projects totaling over 1.22 billion USD (One billion, two hundred twenty-six million, one hundred fifty-eight thousand, and forty US dollars)-I have repeatedly observed a key challenge in the industry: many Employers face difficulty in responding clearly and contractually to correspondence issued by Consultants.
This recurring issue prompted the development of this book. In response, I compiled a practical and comprehensive collection of scenario-based letter templates, each grounded in realistic project situations and supported by specific contractual provisions under the FIDIC Red Book (1999). This volume focuses specifically on the Employer-to-Consultant correspondence pathway, offering: A detailed clause-by-clause interpretation of the FIDIC Red Book (1999), Practical on-site scenarios mapped to each clause and sub-clause, Professionally structured letters featuring: A concise situation explanation, The relevant contractual basis, A formal letter template, Clear, assertive language emphasizing timely action, contractual compliance, and escalation procedures.
Whether you are a site engineer, contract administrator, or project manager, this book is intended to serve as a practical tool to help you: Enhance contractual communication, Address risks and enforce compliance, Respond confidently to site challenges and disputes, Protect the Employer's rights with professionalism and precision. This publication represents the second volume in a broader series that aims to cover other major FIDIC contract forms and essential aspects of construction contract management.
The series is designed to provide professionals with structured, scenario-driven guidance across all key stakeholder roles within FIDIC-based projects. AuthorElhassan Soliman
