Résumé
There's a direct connection between welfare and crime, and by extension police brutality. The cost of welfare, and membership in that life style continually in-creases, thus the costs from welfare-related crimes increases. And by extension police brutality increases. Law enforcement gets more brutal from sheer exasperation, exhaustion. But the real cost is in the waste of time and talent of the "disadvantaged" population that should be put to good use.
Idle hands are the Devil's work-shop. Being that I am a Yankee, we were taught never to waste anything - especially manpower. We're taught, "If you have nothing to do, find something to do and do it!" Welfare recipients seem to have empty time on their hands, and the jail population as a captive audience, has nothing but time. To a Yankee, wasted time is an abhorrence. I propose we give them some memorable experiences that will deter recidivism - we'll put them in school - jail school.
The jail school will teach irregular Latin verbs, manners, arithmetic, Irish dance and geography. Those girls who have a collection of fathers for their children will have their children placed in foster care. With their minds and time free, the girls could attend school and also have job training. They need to learn a skill that can be done in an upright position. And, really, I'm serious!
