Résumé

In the speculative fiction story Minerva's Oath, set in the Middle Ages, Minerva and her husband are deities who have lived amongst humans on different continents for millennia, and have witnessed the rise and fall of some of the greatest civilizations in history. The two have never been apart and have been each other's pillar since the days of Alkebulan. A tragedy occurs, and now Minerva has to help the same Yudanians who betrayed her usher in the Renaissance Age.
Will she have the strength to carry her oath through? In the flash fiction story, The Beyond Connection, budding creative Kabelo decides he's not going to let his condition and past relationship experiences define how he lives his life. He vows to open up to more social interactions. Unbeknownst to him, he receives more than he bargained for. In the short fiction story, The Beyond Connection 2, Wedu is a production artist who's building the life he desires with his partner, Patience.
Wedu soon learns that some traumas seldom remain buried for long. Terrified of losing Patience, he seeks out as much help as he can but the help that seems as though it'll be the one he needs finds him. Will he receive the help he needs in time to save his relationship?
Laone J. Mangwa (Also, LJ Mangwa) is a Motswana creative writer, self-published author, spoken word poet, copy editor, and Applied Business Computing graduate fascinated by how life mimics art and vice versa. As a creative writer, his focus is on finding freedom through the expression of internal experiences that are usually tough to express verbally. Inspired by the unfolding of everyday life, Laone seeks to bridge the gap between the so-called mundane and the extraordinary, often venturing into the otherworldly. Some of his works have been published in the Kalahari Review, IBUA Journal, Petlwana Journal of Creative Literature and the Arts, Love Made in Africa: Our Stories Redefined Anthology 2024 (Flash Fiction Edition), L?únl?ún, Numen of Story and Ußwali.
He's also an Ibua Publishing 2022 A101 Lab and 2023 Creative Writing Lab alumnus, a 2024 Kwalang: The Writers Kiln alumnus, & was a Writers Mingle panelist at the 8th African Writers Conference held in Lesotho in 2025.
