I am William C. Oakes, my name for Non-fiction. I am also using William Charles Oakes for Biblical-historical fantasy and Will Young-Oakes for Christian Western. You can call me Bill. I am in my 70s and have lived a unique life, just as you have. I married my high school sweetheart, Marcie, in 1972. We have two exceptional children, Sarah Oakes Wasson and K. Ian Oakes. And we have four equally amazing grandchildren.
Other than as a husband, father, and grandfather, I would say, Christian, Falconer, Writer, Pastor / Bible Teacher, IT Project Manager, and Army Veteran. I hold a Bachelor of Science degree and a Master of Theology degree. I am an ordained minister. I first wanted to write books when I was thirteen. The first books that caught my interest were about Tom Swift and the Hardy Boys. They inspired me. I mainly wrote science fiction until a few years ago.
I sold none of it! I then formed a publishing business out of my house, Eaglewing Publishing, and helped several aspiring Christian authors to get into print. I now write Christian books, both fiction/fantasy and non-fiction, under a new ministry, Throne & Talon Publishing. The book True Faith was a surprise to me. I had a terminal liver disease that kept me from writing for the past several years.
But I woke up one Sunday with the entire outline for this book in my head. It only took a week to get it on Amazon; it is a short book after all. The editing and formatting took the most time. I had forgotten how to use MS Word!There are many more titles in my Christian Short-Reads collection, all available on Amazon. I write these fantasy novels with a keen interest in Biblical and Historical accuracy.
But don't fact-check me. It is fiction, after all. Just like the Bible, there are miracles, angels, mighty men of God, and giants. As well as evil and powerful enemies.
