Résumé

DEAR READER: Petra the Pteranodon discovered that being brave doesn't mean you're never afraid. It means doing the right thing EVEN WHEN you're scared! Your wings might shake, your heart might pound, but you can still fly! Every brave choice makes the next one a tiny bit easier. YOUR TURN TO BE BRAVE: Draw something you're a little bit afraid to try. Can you take one small brave step toward it?QUESTIONS TO EXPLORE TOGETHER: Petra was afraid of something her body was MADE to do (flying!).
Does that seem silly? Why do you think she was scared anyway? What made Petra finally try flying even though she was terrified? (Hint: Someone needed help!) Petra says "I'm STILL afraid every time I fly, but I fly anyway." What does that teach us about courage? How did Petra's experience with fear help her be kind to Piper? Can hard experiences help us help others? ACTIVITIES TO TRY: Brave Steps Game: Pick something slightly scary (speaking louder, trying new food, learning new skill).
Take ONE small step toward it Fear-to-Courage Story: Share a time you or family member did something despite being scared Courage Chart: Make chart with small, medium, and high "bravery" goals to work toward "I'm Afraid AND Brave": Practice saying both feelings together to understand they can coexist DID YOU KNOW? REAL PTERANODON FACTS! Pteranodon means "Toothless Wing" (they had beaks, not teeth!) They weren't dinosaurs-they were flying reptiles called pterosaurs! Wingspan could reach 18-20 feet-wider than most cars are long! They weighed only about 40 pounds despite huge size (hollow bones!) Pteranodons were excellent gliders, soaring on air currents like modern pelicans That crest on their head helped with steering while flying They lived about 85-75 million years ago during the Late Cretaceous period Pteranodons caught fish by diving into oceans-brave fishers of the sky! THE ADVENTURE CONTINUES: Petra conquered her fear! But now, Dino Valley faces its biggest challenge yet! A massive storm threatens to destroy everyone's homes.
Can Tina, Tops, Spike, Vicky, Bronto, and Petra work together using ALL their special gifts to save the valley? The Dino Valley Storm: ALL Friends Unite! - COMING NEXT!
