Résumé

Paynes left Kentuck with their homemade wagon and started on their cross country trip to South Eastern Texas. The journey was filled with hardship and the need to protect themselves in the mostly lawless west. After months they arrived in an area known as the Hollows along the Sabinal River. Amid defending themselves from outlaws and signing up for a 160-acre homestead, they felt they were finally safe...not true.
Outlaws, renegade Indians and just the effort of starting a ranch kept them always on the lookout to keep what they had, again acting as their own  law by necessity. Son, Turner, joined the Texas Rangers.  He soon found thet helping people with problems was the most rewarding part of life. He learned to accept people while protecting them from lawless gangs.  After being shot several times he was happy to return to the Hollows, but he found, his own family was dealing with the same problems.  As other people they helped decided to become homesteaders, they chose Peaceful Hollows, creating more adjoining 160 acre ranches.
They helped each other grow as families and replaced unavailable lawmen to protected each other. Read on for entertaining surprises, in this action filled Western.
