In about the 16th century Owyn, a carpenter by trade in the city of St. Augustine, is celebrating the eve of his wedding when with his best friend his life is changed in a matter of minutes. They are viciously attacked by monsters and saved by creatures equally as odd. In his sadness and fury, Owyn undergoes a metamorphosis that sends him running high into the mountains. To a place at the edge of the world, where he lives a solemn life until he rescues a woman in the woods.
Even though lonely, he is ashamed of what he's become. Can he overcome his shortcomings and accept who he is?Can she accept him for who he is?
