Résumé

When the companions planned to rescue Lally and Derri from Orosturbe, they had no idea they'd arrive in the kaerling city as prisoners and slaves. "The arena fight with the Champion was wonderfully written and quite shocking at times." C Sendrowski Tari finds herself alone in a mountain cell, while Rue is assigned to serve the Slave Medic. Unable to recall her memories, Otta is subjected to rigorous testing by the kaerlings. Meanwhile, Lored, Erl, Ashlar and Stio discover the shocking reality of a brutal, savage arena life.
Ill-equipped and ill-prepared, they must find a way to overcome the undefeated kaerling Champion, in order to survive. Now the companions are present in the kaerling city, how will they find each other again, let alone rescue the two people they've travelled oceans and continents to reach? Find out, in Orosturbe! If you enjoy novels by George R R Martin, D Wallace Peach and Tara Saunders, you will love this tale! Orosturbe can be read as an individual book as well as part of The Kaerling series. Warning: Some characters in this story have racist views.
Some readers may also find some scenes and themes in this tale upsetting as they contain; slavery, torture, shocking violence, fighting, gore and death.
Pushcart Prize nominee, Freya Pickard, is the quirky, unusual author of The Kaerling series, an epic fantasy set in the strange and wonderful world of Nirunen. A cancer survivor, she writes mainly dark fantasy tales and creates expressive poetry in order to leach the darkness from her soul. Her aim in life is to enchant, entertain and engage with readers through her writing. She finds her inspiration in the ocean, the moors, beautifully written books and vinyl music (particularly heavy metal and rock).
She enjoys Hatha Yoga, Bhangra and Yogalates and in her spare time creates water colours and pastel drawings of the worlds in her head.
