Brian Malcolm Lewis was born in England and emigrated to South Australia in 1950. He studied Electronic Engineering at the University of Adelaide and spent the first 2 years of his career working at the Weapons Research Establishment and then another 2 years working in Canada and USA on machine tool controls and pipeline telemetry systems. This was followed by a 17 year period with the Electricity Trust of South Australia after which he co-founded Flow Force Technologies Pty Ltd.
This company developed and commercialised a range of impact weighers, bulk bag weighers, and samplers for the various bulk solids industries and successfully sold its products throughout Australia, and exported to USA, India, New Zealand, Dominican Republic, Russia, Philippines, Malaysia, Kenya, Mozambique and Senegal. He retired in 2014 to Macclesfield where he enjoys watching the trees grow, making biochar and writing about whatever moves him.
