Résumé
Before the plane fell and the start of killings, they were two teenagers who hadn't yet found the words. After it fell, words stopped mattering. Rwanda, April 1994. Rama Gisa survives the slaughter in the one house nobody thinks to search: the home of the man who commands the militia hunting him. Every knock at the gate could be the end. Across the river, an RPF reconnaissance platoon pushes through the rain toward Mount Rebero, the hill that rises just beyond the village. Among the soldiers is a seventeen-year-old with a Victor Hugo poem folded in his pocket, come home to fight for a country he has never seen. On the Third Day moves between the hiding place and the hillside, between the hunted and the soldiers fighting to reach them, between what human beings proved capable of doing to one another and what a few proved willing to do for one another.
