Johanne Shepherd was born in 1956 in Sydney and spent her early years in the coastal suburb of Avalon. After moving to Canberra, she completed her studies at the Australian National University and the University of Canberra. In 1981, a course on Raja Yoga meditation sparked a deep interest in the spiritual path, leading her to travel through India and China to explore their ancient traditions. Her fascination with Greek mythology and archetypes arose years later, after reading Goddesses in Everywoman, by Jean Shinoda Bolen.
A lifelong writer, Johanne began formally studying the craft a decade ago, weaving together her interests in spirituality, mythology and storytelling. She lives in rural New South Wales, where she continues to write and reflect amidst the quiet rhythms of nature.
