''No Past Is Dead'' kicks off when Ambrose Brenthurst, a lecherous and disliked money-lender, is found brutally murdered outside a property called Fountain Court. He had just finished presiding over a dinner meeting for the bizarre "Hernshaw Thirteen Club". The plot thickens immediately when Brenthurst's body is discovered being gnawed on by a pet cheetah belonging to a beautiful Creole actress.
