Hans-Georg Geyer (1929-1999) war Philosoph im Umkreis der Frankfurter Schule und systematischer Theologe unter dem Einfluss von Karl Barth. In den Jahrzehnten vom Mauerbau bis zur Wiedervereinigung hat er an fünf Hochschulstandorten viele Studierende mit seinen Vorlesungen geprägt und den Weg der Kirchen begleitet.
Dieser Tagungsband präsentiert die Ergebnisse einer von Henning Theißen ins Leben gerufenen Arbeitsgruppe, die Geyers Nachlass erstmals aufarbeitet. Neben der fachlichen Breite und Tiefe der Lehrtätigkeit wird eine Vielzahl intellektueller und gesellschaftlicher Kontexte sichtbar, mit denen Geyers stets neugieriges Denken in Austausch steht.
Die wissenschaftliche Edition von vier unveröffentlichten Predigten lässt zudem Geyer selbst zu Wort kommen. [Reasoning with curiosity. The academic teaching and theological work of Hans-Georg Geyer. With four unpublished sermons by Hans-Georg Geyer] A philosopher trained in the Frankfurt School of Horkheimer and Adorno and simultaneously a theologian in the vein of Karl Barth, systematic theologian Hans-Georg Geyer (1929-1999) has influenced numerous students in the decades between the Berlin Wall until the reunification of Germany. This volume presents the conference results of a working group gathered by Henning Theißen who pioneers future research on Geyer's teaching and scientific works.
Exploring Geyer's literary remains, the authors reconstruct the vivid intellectual and sociocultural contexts in which Geyer's theology is situated. The scientific edition of four hitherto unpublished sermons adds a widely unknown perspective to the protrait of Geyer.
