Sometimes the street takes away the people we love. Dr. Pamela Krupin is back in the neighborhood that she left in poverty and shame when she was a teenager.  Working at a progressive, private hospital as a psychologist and a reiki professional, one of her clients is a Russian mob boss, named Nikolai. Detective Drake Logan is working undercover to stop a gang related murder spree, when he saves the gorgeous, if a bit flaky, doctor from goons who are looking to question her on what his godfather, Nikolai, might have slipped up and told her during their sessions.
When her jail bird brother shows up and Nikolai is murdered, Pamela is still being targeted. Drake is determined to protect her, even if it means blowing his cover and ruining the sizzling attraction they feel for each other.
