Ignoring her husband's advice, Isobel refuses to call in the police, convinced that nothing sinister is afoot. That certainly seems to be the case at the Golden Bay Hotel, where the Taverners are soon joined by old friends and new acquaintances, including celebrated actress Margot Westlake and her newspaper tycoon beau. Everything looks set for a pleasant holiday . until a local scenic spot becomes the backdrop of yet another, nearly fatal accident, and Isobel is forced to confront the possibility that the danger is very real and very close at hand.
When tragedy strikes again, and a body is found on the beach, Scotland Yard is called in to investigate. But it's Margot, not Isobel, who is dead. Beautiful, captivating, and unapologetically flirtatious, the actress found plenty of admirers at the Golden Bay Hotel, not least of all Guy Taverner - and perhaps more than one enemy. But was Margot the intended victim, or did the killer strike down the wrong woman?
