Résumé
Moving the Social - Journal of Social History and the History of Social Movements is a multi-disciplinary, international and peer-reviewed journal. It focuses on transnational and comparative perspectives on the history of social movements set in a wider context of social history. It appears twice yearly.
Moving the Social publishes research at the cutting edge of social history, broadly defi ned.
This involves in particular the analysis of the diversity of economic, social, political and mental structures of social movements, from historical and social science perspectives, and the introduction of new research that is relevant to the fi eld of social movement studies. Moving the Social is published by Klartext publishers, one of the foremost academic publishers in Germany. The journal is the continuation of the Mitteilungsblatt des Instituts für soziale Bewegungen, which has been successfully published for many years.
The new title indicates a desire to internationalise the journal's profi le. However, the editors recognise that in the medium term, the journal will continue to publish also articles in German - despite its declared preference for English-language publications. The editors welcome articles on the "old" labour movements, "new" social movements, regional and global perspectives on social history, as well as the history and theory of historiography, especially where historiographies of social movements and theoretical perspectives on social history are concerned.
