Résumé

A neurodivergent marksman from Oildale, who has spent his life**mastering stillness - seeing the world in angles, patience, and thediscipline that quieted the noise in his mind. Then a tragedy befalls his family. As he follows the rabbit down therabbit hole, a grieving senator finds him. Powerful, controlled, anddriven by a loss he will never name, he recruits Darius to stop aChinese-engineered weapon built to be invisible - one virus cloakedwithin another, aimed at the unborn.
His target is a woman in an Afghan mountain village. The clock isalready running. But the closer Darius gets, the less certain the shot becomes. Betweenthe man who shaped him into a weapon and the life waiting in hiscrosshairs, Darius must decide what he truly is - and whether thehardest shot a marksman ever faces is the one he chooses not to take.
About the AuthorGeoff Shane grew up under the wide skies of Bakersfield, California, where work was honest, curiosity was encouraged, and the horizon always seemed to promise something more. After high school, he enlisted in the United States Air Force, a choice that carried him far from home and shaped the discipline and quiet resilience that would follow him through every chapter of his life. When his service ended, Geoff returned to Bakersfield to earn a BS in Finance and Economics at California State University, Bakersfield.
His career moved from finance to defense contracting, and eventually to the classroom, where he discovered the steady, human rhythm of teaching fourth graders - a vocation he carried to retirement. He spent years writing a personal blog, exploring memory, humor, and the small truths that make a life. Now, at seventy-eight, Geoff has published his first novel and is deep into his second, writing with the clarity of someone who has lived widely and paid attention.
He makes his home in the San Antonio area with his wife of eighteen years, Cindi, and their three Boston terriers - Oslo, Norway, and JoJo - who ensure that every day begins with energy and ends with affection. He welcomes readers and conversation at: [email protected]
