Genny Dupont has a lot on her plate. Between working full time, training to be the best vampire slayer she can be, and preparing for her first trip, she hasn't had much chance to come to terms with the recent attempt on her and her sister Chloe's lives. She should be planning how to defeat their enemies. She should be helping Chloe manage her trauma. She should also be trying to mend her friendship with her ex-boyfriend JP, especially since he's accompanying her to France to testify at his uncle's murder trial.
She should be doing a lot of things she isn't. But the one thing Genny cannot do, the thing she shoves from her mind, although it never stays away long, is admit her feelings for Quinn. Acting on them would only complicate her life further, and undoubtedly drive a permanent wedge between her and JP. But even more concerning, Quinn is a vampire, one who has suffered more in his 139 years than she can imagine.
It's weird enough that a slayer and a vampire have grown so close. Anything more could only end in tragedy. At least that's what she's been told by other immortals. It's best if they just stay friends. That's what she keeps reminding herself, but these feelings aren't going away. If anything they're growing. And they terrify her a lot more than the Vampire Assembly who still wants her dead.
