Résumé

Molly Compton is once more travelling back home to her parent's house for yet another Christmas to treasure in the memory banks and just like the previous time, it doesn't turn out quite the way she'd planned it. But with all her presents bought online (tick box and pat on back for being so organised) and with her Secret Santa gift being left safely unopened on her work desk (well that's another box ticked and wisely so) since she really didn't want an embarrassing repeat of her Christmas past.
No, this Christmas was going to have to be strictly a family affair (tick box for being such a good daughter/sister). Since her boyfriend Harvey is working overseas so he'll miss all the joy and merriment that she's bound to have despite this fact (and tick box for being such a lovely girlfriend who didn't make that much of a fuss about his absence, or the upset if he doesn't make it back for the anniversary 'of when they'd first kissed').
As she could have found a way to endure it better, if only it wasn't for the surprise or two or should she make that several in the pipeline before the week is out. After this, it is 'every man for himself' when Molly gets the sinking feeling that nothing will ever be the same again (and you can forget ticking anymore-bloody boxes because it is game over). Join Molly, family and friends for a festive funny tale that will remind you, just what Christmas is all about and that being together no matter what happens next is only half the fun of it.
This is the second book of British, Christmas comedy short novels and to be sure of more entertaining reads please be on the lookout for book three to complete the trilogy.
Maureen Reil writes romantic comedies and humour filled short story collections full of heart. And they end in a happy ever after for the female main character and her dishy male love interest but not before a whole book full of funny situations take place, of course. If that sounds like a fun read and something you'd enjoy then she has had over 37 books published, so far, to choose from but she's always working on a new manuscript to add to that tally so she's not done yet.
Maureen is a wife and mother who was born in the city of Liverpool, but resides in semi-rural Lancashire UK. She still longs to live back by the sea because there's nothing like breathing in that fresh salty air as opposed to the countryside smell of whatever manure the farmers use in her area (always on the same day she hangs her washing out, she notes like it's a conspiracy against clean clothes or something).
She even misses having sand everywhere when opening up the doors and windows, instead of flies in the summertime. While it was always a dream of hers to become a novelist ever since she wrote stories in school, she didn't believe that one day she would get to make that wish come true so she is forever grateful to anyone who reads her work. And when Maureen is not writing, she is usually reading but thinking about writing because let's face it; life is one big story so there's plenty to write about.
