Résumé

Milwaukee is the largest Wisconsin city and fifth most populous in the Midwest located on the western shore of Lake Michigan. Positioned on the confluence of the Milwaukee, Menomonee, and Kinnickinnic Rivers, Milwaukee was originally inhabited by various Algonquian peoples before becoming a major trade and industrial hub during the mid-19th century. The city became incorporated during 1846. The 19th century introduced a diverse variety of architectural styles and prominent architects featuring some of the most ornate and statuesque designs.
That trend continued into the 20th century along with the establishment of Marquette University, Harley Davidson and the futuristic Milwaukee Art Museum. The city remains a feast of architectural sampling highlighted by the downtown, Concordia district, Lake Michigan north shore and West Terrace panoramic views.
