Résumé
Midnight Monster Morgue is a horror anthology magazine collecting original fiction, poetry, and genre criticism in one illustrated volume. Issue No. 1 leads with the full novel "The Bloody Benders: Escape from Hell's Half Acre, " a five-chapter tale of a murderous frontier family fleeing Kansas one step ahead of a lynch mob, followed by seven additional stories ranging from a zombie-plague reimagining of Oz to a Highgate Cemetery vampire-hunter rivalry, a cursed automaton bride, and a lighthouse-keeping family's pact with the drowned.
Nine original poems of dread follow, then four long-form features: "Reel Terror, " twenty essays on classic horror cinema from Nosferatu to Alien; "Bella Morte, " a history of Italian horror's golden age; "Sounds from the Crypt, " a guide to gothic and horror-adjacent music; and "The Gallery: Shadows & Ornament, " a curated collection of dark art and archival imagery. Illustrated throughout with original pen-and-ink style artwork.
