Résumé
If you're into wellness then you probably heard of meditation. The most popular style uses mantras, specific seating, focuses on yourself, and tells you to empty your thoughts. That never seems to work. Everyone I know, myself included, tries it and stops within weeks because it doesn't produce results. Our minds are not designed to go blank, no matter how much we try. I am so happy I found this booklet.
It showed me that in the Bible, God told people to meditate. It gives lots of scriptures too so you have all kinds of examples of what God wants you to think about. The Psalms are like poems and can really make you realize you're not alone, and that someone else went through the same thing you're going through. And the proverbs are still true today, even though they're very old. But my favorite thing from this book was from Philippians 4:8-9.
Look that up. That's my kind of meditation. I can do this!It also talks about meditating on God's laws and gives a really interesting list of things that would be different, or not even exist, if people obeyed those commandments. The world would be a much better place. And I can't change the world but I can make myself a better person. And that will make me feel better and then maybe I can help someone else, maybe you! I strongly recommend this book.
It's short and has a lot of good information, especially that eastern meditation is not something a Christian should do. Maybe that's why it never worked for me! I learned a lot and I hope you do too.
