Donna Rucinski had an interest in writing even before she had an interest in math. Though she used math while working as a software engineer and when teaching computer science, it doesn't come up as often now that she teaches Yoga and Mindfulness at a public charter school.
She has four grown children, lives in the amazing city of Lowell, Massachusetts, and enjoys reading, writing, biking, hiking, yoga, social dancing and cleaning her room (just kidding).
She doesn't have a pet, but she's fostered kittens can't wait to do so again.

Résumé
Author: This is the BEST short story collection with math for kids! Skeptical middle school Reader: It's the only one. So, you could also say it's also the WORST. Author (sighs, looking at toes): Yes, but I'm trying to get you to read it. That won't help. Reader: I'm not convinced. It has math right in the title and the cover is boring. Author: What would get you to try it? I won't make you finish.
Reader: Maybe it it was funny.Author: Oh, it's funny all right!Reader: Still, it's about math and math is the worst. Author: It's not all about math. It's about programming computers, and fairies, .Reader: Still...math. Author: .and a remote control cat. Reader: Remote control cat? You can control it?Author: Well, he's still a cat, but yeah, mostly. He's a rescue cat and glows in the dark. He goes into a burning building.
Reader: Ok fine, I'll try it. but I'll probably hate it. And I'm not going to finish it if it's just word problems or a fraction workbook. Author (blushes): There's a tiny bit where little fairies reduce fractions but you won't have to do any work, I promise. The math just helps tell the stories. You can forget it as soon as you're done reading it. There won't be a quiz. Reader: Okay. Author: You're so brave.
If it helps this is what other readers have said about the book: "I already liked math, but this book made me like reading more." - Jared"I already liked reading, but this book made me like math more." - Olivia If you are looking for ways to make math fun, or to look at it a new way, or learn some useful math painlessly, these stories will help! Be brave, try reading them!
