At first glance, Marxism and Buddhism appear to have little in common. But look more closely, as both Marx and the Buddha would encourage you to do, and you find a surprisingly similar conception of how to set about making sense of the world, an approach that sees it as impossible to understand any part of the world without understanding the way it relates to everything around it, and to the way in which everything is changing. Marx and the Buddha applied this approach in different ways, to different subjects and with very different results.
