Résumé
What is the role of men and masculinity in Biblical texts? Now that we have long become accustomed to reading the Bible with a feminist viewpoint, the time has come for men to sharpen their perspectives. With scientific acumen and clear words scholars show us in selected texts where specific male-oriented theological content may be found in both the Old and New Testament. Food for thought is given concerning the consequences of this new approach for sermons and Bible classes.
Men tend to fight to gain status, influence and recognition; they long for security and support; they love their freedom; and they are willing to assume responsibility. Such typical male inconsistencies must be considered when providing pastoral care or preparing church services. Male-oriented exegesis of Biblical texts is just the beginning - an innovative approach with a future.
