Résumé

This book explores the MINDRAMP Creative Cycle, which offers a schematic structure for the creative process. Three primary objectives of the creative process are captured in three overarching phases: 1) Vision and Goal Setting, 2) Idea Generation, and 3) Action and Testing. Seven action stages propel creative action through these essential phases. Initiation and Saturation in phase one, Manipulation, Incubation and Illumination in phase two, and Implementation and Verification in the final phase.
Each of the stages, in turn has its own set of behaviors and cognitive functions that support the creative work. We improve creativity by enhancing our skill and facility with each of these behaviors and thinking strategies.
Michael C. Patterson is an author, educator, writer, speaker and gerontologist. His current passion is exploring how to flourish as we age. He produces and hosts a podcast of the same name that features episodes on the three core elements of flourishing: BRAIN - Keeping our brains healthy; MIND - Seeing that our minds are well-managed; and, END-OF-LIFE - Planning for a peaceful and dignified death.
Michael ran the Staying Sharp brain health program for AARP and, with Roger Anunsen, founded MINDRAMP, an organization dedicated to creative aging. Michael was an executive board member for the National Center for Creative Aging, served on an advisory board of the Research Center for Arts & Culture, and currently serves on the Research & Aging committee for Encore Creativity. Michael spent two decades developing educational services for PBS and was a professional actor and director.
