Lucky Charms is a play for students in Years 6, 7 or 8 (Level 3). It is designed for a normal-sized English class and for students with varying interests in acting. Since there are 43 speaking roles and as many as ten dancers, students who enjoy acting can perform in several scenes and play to their heart's content, whereas students who aren't particularly keen on acting only have one role to master in one single scene.
Every scene deals with good or bad luck and sometimes specifically with lucky charms.
And with the help of the two hosts, the professor and MC Tony, the audience is given the chance to contemplate the concept of luck. The play consists of dialogues between the two hosts and scenes with as many as eight to 13 performers. The themes are partly geared to the thoughts and dreams of students today - winning or discovering a lot of money, having the best cell phone, feeling that something good is going to happen or fearing that misfortune is on its way - and the scenes offer young actresses and actors the opportunity to experience a wide range of characters while performing.
