The heart of true righteousness, which is also the core of the gospel, is based on our gratitude for God's gift of salvation. We didn't earn it. We didn't pay for it. And it certainly wasn't by our good deeds. Therefore, it comes with humility, honor, and responsibility. Being brought up within the values and the standards of this world, it's quite understandable for such an awesome revelation to generate a few erroneous interpretations.
But considering Christ became our sin and died on the cross more than two-thousand years ago, restoring our relationship with God as His beloved children, our identity can no longer be associated with the fallenness of this world. As we assess, understand, and accept the holy exchange that sealed our sameness with Christ, we realize that we were never of this world. So not only do we start shedding all preconceived notions of ourselves, but we also learn to live fully and victoriously as citizens of heaven.
We get to demonstrate our Father's love, goodness, and power, expressing His boundless creativity as well as His infinite abilities. So much so that every time we wake up to a brand new day, the devil ought to be reminded of the fact that he is a defeated foe and that he is about to have a bad day.
