Résumé

Ash and Adelaide visit the holy city of Bethlehem, where Jesus was born, and as they leave the shrine all hell breaks loose. Dodging bombs and machine gun fire they make their way to the bus to take them back to Jerusalem. From the book: A sweet vendor boarded the bus selling those very sweet and delicious Middle Eastern delicacies made from nuts and syrup and things, Baklava I think it's called, delicious with thick cream.
As the sweet vendor moved down the bus selling his wares bombs started to go off just over the other side of the wall from where the bus was parked. The wall shook as more bombs went off and bits of it fell to the ground, if it was possible the machine gun fire grew even louder. Adelaide jumped up and raced to the front of the bus.'Bombs, shooting, bomb boom!' she shouted at the driver. 'We must go, we must go now!'Very slowly the Palestinian bus driver put down his newspaper and turned to Adelaide.
He shrugged his shoulders and pointed to the interior of the bus.'Not full, ' he said.'Reviews: 'A rip-roaring romantic adventure. Ash is running away from a marriage proposal and ends up picking fruit in Europe. He is a bit of a loner, not known for making friends but he meets various people who start pushing him out of his comfort zone, turns out he is a nice guy and generous too. Eventually he ends up in Egypt and meets a girl who he falls for and ends up on a mini adventure.
In this book you'll find bad tempered Greeks, picnics in minefields and the odd, terrorist attacks.''The joy of this book is the realistic account of being an itinerant worker, as many backpackers are. Ash works in Greece in the Peloponnese and in Crete picking oranges and then he heads off to Israel to work on a kibbutz, there is a disastrous trip to Cairo in Egypt, the Pyramids were never like this in the glossy brochures but it all ends...well I won't tell you how it ends, a good read, I really enjoyed it.'
