Life Took Me Somewhere Else is a collection of personal essays about teaching, learning, language, work, friendship, change, and the unexpected turns of an ordinary life. The author never planned to write this book. In fact, he never planned many of the things that eventually shaped his life. From studying English and becoming a teacher, to running a language school in China and later settling in Australia, one experience led to another.
Looking back, he discovered that life often has its own plans. These essays are not a formal autobiography. They are memories, observations, stories, and reflections collected along the way. Some are about English and education. Some are about people and places. Others are about getting older, looking back, and trying to understand what those years really meant. Written in simple, natural English, the book invites readers to share a journey that was never fully planned-but somehow became a meaningful one.
This is the author's 53rd book and his final book. He did not plan to write it. Life took him somewhere else.
