Jason DeWitt has had a troubled life and he's made quite a reputation for himself. His chaotic life choices land him in a sort of trouble he's never faced before, the double murder of his friend and his friend's wife. Facing life in prison, Jason's desperate to clear his name. Mercy Thomas is a headstrong, independent lawyer who runs her own firm, takes care of her family, especially her sister Grace, and has all of her ducks in a row.
When she overhears two of her colleagues discussing Jason's case, she's intrigued enough to do some digging. Her first meeting with Jason gives her two critical pieces of information about her new client. One, he's anything but guilty and two, he's so good looking things long sleeping wake up inside her. Can Mercy prove Jason's innocence before the jury finds him guilty? Can Jason learn to be the man Mercy believes he can be, or will he succumb to the lifestyle he's always known?
