As part of the 12th Entretiens du Centre Jacques Cartier, a conference on organic agriculture was held in Lyon (France) in December 99. Organized by the Institut Supérieur d'Agriculture Rhône-Alpes (Lyon) and the Université Laval (Québec, Canada), the conference provided a process report on the state of organic agriculture in Europe and North America. Researchers, professors, professionals and producers from more than 20 countries were present.
4 themes were discussed: the situation in Europe and North America; the issues with a specialization of production systems; the producers facing a changing market; the role of public policies.
