Résumé
Max Fischer is a survivor. Born ten minutes too late in a world that only wanted one twin, he's spent his whole life too skinny, too broke, and too gay for anyone to bother keeping. So when the Consortium makes him choose between an electrobolt to the brain and a one-way trip to a planet of cyborgs, of course he picks the cyborgs. LaGrange isn't what he expected. The food is incredible, the borg are unreasonably gorgeous, and - if Max can just survive long enough to get to a ceremony - every one of them wants to spend the rest of his very long life making Max happy.
The catch? It's up to Max to pick the best borg for the job. Except Max has already set his heart on one particular broody, infuriating man. Karl is the Free Nation's envoy: decorated, formidable, and with enough history to scuttle a transport ship. He's put his name forward for all four sixty-four Tribute seasons, and sixty-four times he's watched his chances cringe away from him and choose someone else.
He's made his peace with being alone. But when a filthy, sharp-tongued street rat looks at him like he hung the stars, Karl's careful resignation goes straight out the airlock door. There are explosions. There's a kidnapping. Not to mention a conspiracy reaching deeper into the Cyborg Nation than anybody wants to accept.. And somewhere in the middle of all that, two men who have stopped believing in happy endings start building one anyway - messy, complicated, and absolutely theirs. KRL is a slow-burn MM science fiction romance with found family, unexpected hope, and the deeply inconvenient moment when the universe decides to give you everything you gave up asking for.
