In den letzten Jahren hat sich das Selbstverständnis der Komparatistik stark verändert. Die klassischen Arbeits- und Aufgabengebiete sind konfrontiert mit einer kulturwissenschaftlichen Neuorientierung und der Öffnung für globalisierungstheoretische Frage- und Problemstellungen. Dieser Band bietet einen Überblick über die Geschichte der Allgemeinen und Vergleichenden Literaturwissenschaft und liefert zugleich eine Bestandsaufnahme ihrer gegenwärtigen Situation im globalen Kontext.
Der Fokus liegt dabei auf problemorientierten Darstellungen, die den neuesten Forschungsstand widerspiegeln. The self-perception of comparative studies has changed markedly in recent years. The classic areas and fields of activities face a reorientation towards cultural studies and an opening up for questions and issues relating to globalisation theories. This volume provides a survey of the history of general and comparative literary studies and at the same time takes stock of its current situation in a global context.
