In Boston's Fenway Park neighborhood, survival isn't about checkmates, it's about knowing which fights you can walk away from and which ones you can't. Matthew Jordan was never supposed to come back. A stint in Mental Asylum, a history with the Clover Mob, and ghosts thick enough to choke on should've kept him away. But when his old neighborhood's chess club, a last refuge for kids caught between corners and caskets, starts slipping through the cracks, Matthew returns for one last shot at redemption.
What begins as a desperate attempt to hustle his way to a national tournament spirals into a war for the block's soul. Old rivalries flare, loyalty costs more than blood, and Matthew's estranged brother, Stephen, now the neighborhood's quiet kingpin, has no intention of letting the streets, or Matthew's kids go without a fight.
