Jim Dunn spends his retirement woodworking, selling his wares at local crafts shows. One day, Jill Francent shows up, asking if he can build a library in the Victorian house she's just bought. Intrigued at the thought of undertaking such a major project (not to mention her luminous green eyes), Jim agrees. While he constructs her library and Jill writes magazine and advertising copy, a friendship develops, and Jim realizes he's fallen in love with her.
But he's already married, not to mention a respectable father and grandpa, so he resigns himself to unrequited love. After all, he can still see her frequently as a friend, which is better than nothing. But then Jill is offered her dream job...in Austria....
