Résumé

Since man has existed, he has tracked the visible stars and the planets in wonder. As the earth has gotten more crowded and poisoned, man has begun looking upward and outward for answers to humanity's increasing problems. Man realizes how rare our earth is in the universe-it is a garden planet among many deadly planets-it's the only planet in our solar system that can support life! Watching the deadly planets and examining what they could offer us under other circumstances, man seeks ways to turn the deadly planets into additional Gardens of Eden that man could inhabit, spreading out humanity across the expanse of space.
Boys become men under harsh conditions. Terraforming is one method of turning red dust into a Garden of Eden. Such are the plans of a group of scientists led by Scott Harrison. During their daring undertaking, emotions run high. They wonder if they're playing god by changing deadly planets into gardens. The e-robots don't have spirits, and so they don't know God nor his plans for humanity. They wonder what role they are to play in all of this, and they try to fit a form of evolution to their scenario of existence.
They form an ill-advised uprising against the humans they've always served so well. They have to be put back in their place so that logic prevails. These are dilemmas we will have to face as we forge our future and learn to live together as humanity and machines on earth or any other planet. If a man loves a woman, he sees her as having divine worth or value. If Eve had not appealed to Adam's emotions of loneliness, perhaps he would have delayed the plan to transgress, leave the Garden and have mortal offspring.
Love sometimes takes time to incubate. Even on the stark surface of Mars, love can bloom between a man and a woman. Although they may face challenges with their previous significant others, and although the Russian Mafia could cause a lot of problems for them, they gladly face the issues that separate them and fall hopelessly in love in the romantic void of space! Mars' mountain ranges become a welcome background for them in this story.
How can humanity justify terraforming Mars and Venus (playing god), and can they prevent the greedy UTAI and X-Corp from ruining their plans? Will a new, garden planet become a resort for only the rich, or will real estate on the planet become available for any humans to purchase and develop? Will the V1, central computer go rogue and destroy all aboard the space station Odyssey in an attempt at unwarranted self-preservation? Should V1 be allowed to protect herself from human shutdown? Read all about the emotional concerns of both machines and humans in a possible future of our earth and solar system in this latest book in the Robot Wars series by David Nishimoto.
