I grew up in a small town in the Transkeian region of South Africa close to the ocean and the mountains. After completing high school I moved to the city to go to College. And I'm still here. I miss the ocean every single day. I have my parents to thank for my love of books and music. The local library was one of my favourite places to hang out and helped to satisfy my craving to read more and more books.
Doing what the majority of people do is not for me. I like who I am. I love what I do. I like my music loud and heavy, my coffee with a touch of milk and slightly sweet, and chocolate in all its shapes and forms. Music is my muse. My house is never silent. Whether I'm writing or reading there is always music playing. Teaching herself to read before she went to school was the start of her life-long love affair with books.
Trained as an engineer, Linzé has worked as a specialist engineer in two fields of engineering. Thereafter, she was self-employed, working as a consultant to commercial companies exporting their products to other countries. When the economy forced her back into full-time employment, she worked as a systems engineer and senior project manager at a company that designs and manufactures products for the military industry.
In January 2019, she left her full-time job to enjoy the challenges of self-employment once more. Now she spends her days doing competence training, career development and retirement coaching, and engineering consulting work. Although she still loves to read, she also enjoys counted stitch embroidery, t'ai chi, archery, fly fishing, drawing, painting with pastels, her husband's medal-winning photographs, and watching Manchester United play.
She is one of the moderators of two Facebook writers' groups, and leads the Pretoria Writers' Group, who boasts several published authors in various genres. Linzé Brandon lives in Pretoria, South Africa, with her engineer husband and German Shepherds who are convinced that the world revolves only around them. I am in my early 40s, and live in Johannesburg, South Africa with my husband. Storytelling is how I make my living - mostly corporate at the moment, but increasingly books that need writing are bringing themselves to my attention. Andrea Vermaak has been writing journals, stories and poetry since the age of eight.
While studying a BA (Journalism) Languages and a BA (Honours) English degree, Andrea chaired the University of Pretoria's literary society, The Inklings, where she honed her creative writing skills at weekly workshops. She is now an active member of The Pretoria Writers Group. She has published several magazine and student newspaper articles, as well as poetry. Her short story, 'Draca' appears in 'The Flight of the Phoenix', an anthology published by independent publisher, Siygrah Books.
'Break Away' will soon appear in the anthology 'Journey', independently published by The Pretoria Writers Group. Andrea is in the progress of writing and editing several other short stories, as well as a young adult fantasy novel. Andrea also works full-time at BK Publishing as the editor of 'Supernova, the mag for curious kids'. I am a student of human nature. I hold a doctorate in bodily spatiality and tattooing practices.
I am a student of the other. Apart from being a student, in my professional capacity, I conduct socio-spatial profiles in order to assess access to resources and identify project benefits for a civil engineering firm. I believe in the healing powers of a cat's purr, of a cup of tea, and a good book.
