Die vielfältigen Zugänge und Interpretationsperspektiven der interdisziplinären Hamann-Forschung entsprechen der universalen Weite wie auch der singulären Verdichtung und Sperrigkeit des Hamannschen Werkes, dem es um das Ganze der Wirklichkeit in Natur und Geschichte geht, dieses Ganze aber nur im Fragment fassen kann. Die Beiträge bieten Lesarten der Natur sowie auch der Geschichte unter besonderer Berücksichtigung der Sprachformen und der Formen der Wahrnehmung.
Grundfragen der Ästhetik verbinden sich mit Grundfragen der Erkenntniskritik, wobei es nicht zuletzt um die Verhältnisbestimmung von Glaube und Vernunft geht. Die Beiträge stammen von Wissenschaftlerinnen und Wissenschaftlern aus Theologie, Philosophie und Literaturwissenschaften.
