Résumé

A comparison of the political changes that took place in the German Democratic Republic, in Czechoslovakia, Poland and Hungary in the years 1989/1990 shows a large amount of mutual influence. The focus of this volume lies on the German Democratic Republic. It looks at the how the transitions began in the four countries, the state of the socialist autocracies at the end of their reign, the specifics of the system changes that took place, the role of the masses and the intelligentsia as well as the particulars during the phase when democracy became established in these countries.
The goal of the authors and editors was to present the impulses behind a comparative perspective on the developments in the German Democratic Republic and its neighbours.

A propos de Clemens Vollnhals

Dr. Clemens Vollnhals ist Stellvertretender Direktor des Hannah-Arendt-Instituts für Totalitarismusforschung e. V. und Lehrbeauftragter für Zeitgeschichte an der Technischen Universität Dresden. Prof. Dr. Uwe Backes ist Stellvertretender Direktor des Hannah-Arendt-Instituts für Totalitarismusforschung und lehrt an der TU Dresden an der TU Dresden. Dr. habil. Tytus Jaskulowski ist Universitätsprofessor, Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Zeitgeschichte am Institut für Politik- und Verwaltungswissenschaft der Universität Grünberg (Uniwersytet Zielonogórski). Eckhard Jesse war bis 2014 Inhaber des Lehrstuhls für Politische Systeme und Politische Institutionen an der TU Chemnitz. PD Dr.
habil. Steffen Kailitz forscht am Hannah- Arendt-Institut für Totalitarismusforschung an der TU Dresden. Dr. Detlef Pollack ist Professor für Religionssoziologie an der Westfälischen Wilhelms-Universität Münster und Sprecher des Exzellenzclusters "Religion und Politik in den Kulturen der Vormoderne und der Moderne". Dr. Karel Vodicka flüchtete 1985 aus der ?SSR ins politische Exil. Er arbeitet als Politikwissenschaftler am Hannah-Arendt-Institut für Totalitarismusforschung an der TU Dresden und ist Lehrbeauftragter an der Philosophischen Fakultät der Jan-Evangelista-Purkyn?-Universität Ústí nad Labem, Tschechien. Dr.
phil. Francesca Weil war bis 2002 als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Historischen Seminar der Universität Leipzig beschäftigt. Seit 2003 arbeitet sie am Hannah-Arendt- Institut für Totalitarismusforschung e. V. an der Technischen Universität Dresden. Sie leitet das Forschungsfeld »Nationalsozialismus« . Dr. Michael Richter ist Historiker am Hannah-Arendt-Institut für Totalitarismusforschung an der TU Dresden.
