"It is written" is a phrase borrowed from the response of Jesus when He was "tempted of the devil" in the wilderness. The Lord responded to the devil's questioning His identity as the Son of God by telling Him that "Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God" (Matthew 4:4, KJV). From these words, we learn that the Word of God is the perfect response to any trial because Christians ought to live by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God, and we are blessed to have it written for us.
This is the premise of this devotional- to facilitate the declaration of the Word over one's life for 40 days. It is to remind the reader of who and what they are in God. It is to energise the weary soul, and to revive the dead spirit. Over the course of 40 days in this devotional, you will speak the Word of God over your life, reclaiming your identity in Him. You will be guided through short prayers that will form the basis of meditation and reflection on biblical truths concerning your life.
Why 40 days? Because 40 seems to be a number associated with trial, and triumph throughout biblical scripture. As such, the 40-day journey in this devotional is designed to usher you through trials into a place of triumph using the Word of God.
